Industry Comes Together To Support Well-Known Colleague.
Paul Clark has been working in the BC Wine Industry (and
most recently for Discover Wines) as an educator and salesperson for 20
years. Earlier this year, his 13 year old daughter, Meaghan, was
diagnosed with bone cancer and is being treated at Children's Hospital
in Vancouver. Paul has been staying at Ronald McDonald House while
his wife Kelly Ann became the sole bread winner and remains in Kelowna
caring for their youngest child, Strachan. Two amazing women,
Katie Fletcher and Bonnie-Lee Hansen spearheaded a fundraiser for their
family on May 1, 2007 raising over $33,000 for the Clark family.
Major sponsors were Discover Wines, Blue Line Sports and Comedy, the
Coast Capri Hotel, Beyond Audio and the Okanagan Wine Festival Society.
There was overwhelming support from wineries, restaurants and other
local businesses to make this a success. Kelly Ann commented "Meaghan
still has a long journey ahead of her, but we know that with all of your
kindness and positive energy, she will come out of this a strong young
lady!". Not only was it a fun night, it showed how strong and
supportive our community is.
